I not only recieved a notice of violation but also a threat to terminate my account on the next offense, because I responded quite candidly to a racial question asked. Many fail to realize that when society in general, most definitely including those who manage this group, do see fit to treat this like the big elephant in the room we are not supposed to talk about, and punishes anyone who dares mentioning it, they're in fact doing a disservice TO ALL OF US in general, as our basic freedom of speech is being violated.

How are we supposed to resolve our problems, when we are not allowed to talk candidly about them, especially when double-standards are very much part of this issue?

To Dwight (Answerer #1): I did and in no uncertain terms. But I have a feeling I won't hear from them.

To Krystina (Answerer #2): I will not specify any further as to the nature of the question, and ultimately it doesn't matter. The question here isn't about my exact comments, but about the right of any person to tell quite candidly what's on their mind without being penalized for their thoughts, most especially when it specified exceptions and clarified that it wasn't necessarily towards the reader. Way too many people don't bother to read more closely what it says before they act hastily.

You have hit the nail right on the head. If I don't get any other answers, I might choose yours.

To Corygraph (#5): To many people accuse you of being a racist and making racist comments when in fact, you're simply discussing an issue quite candidly and based on the truth, simply because those who take offense can't look at themselves in the mirror.

To Coragryph again (#5):

I have the impression that you're coming across as an apologist. While you have a right to your opinion, I have to tell you that people like you are precisely a part of the problem, rather than part of the solution.

I absolutely agree with you, but my experiences of the violation notice is because some moron complained to them. I don't beleive that they individually monitor what we say. However, there are those here, who want to dish out dirt but are shocked when somebody else's heartfelt opinions do not agree with theirs. The problem here is Yahoo however that seems to dish out these violations without proper investigations and never in my experience reply to protests.

There's a difference between discussing a racial issue, and making a racist comment. I don't know your facts, so I'll use a hypothetical.

The following are "racial issue" questions that are not racist:
* Which amendment prohibits racial discrimination in voting?
* What are your thoughts on state affirmative action programs?
* Is racial profiling the same as racial discrimination?
* Does the Voting Rights Act protect certain races, or does it protect everyone?

These are questions of law or policy that don't require any commentary about any particular race. I'm sure you can imagine questions that fall on the opposite end of the spectrum.

Problems can be resolved, and double standards can be discussed, without pointing the finger or laying blame at any one group. It requires people to think a bit more, but that's to the overall good.

{EDIT}

You say "discussing an issue candidly and based on the truth". Do you mean, talking about measurable statistics from polls or studies, as part of a policy discussion? Or do you mean talking about personal opinions that someone thinks are true, and (whether true or not) are hurtful to one particular race?

There are many ways to answer a racist question without being racist yourself. Since I haven't seen the question or answer in question I can only guess. You would however think that if someone asked a racial leading question they may expect racial biased answers. They may have been setting you up.
