She can't work - No one's available to take her/pick her up. Father is a contractor so he doesn't have insurance either. And so far she was able to get on WIC. Medicaid was our last resort as their process takes TOOO Long.

Medicaid will pay for everything. She may have to do a work program though.

Contact your SRS or your local government assistance agency. Worst case scenario----she will get prenatal care, have a baby and then have to make payments to the hospital and doctors in the future. While insurance sounds like a nice option, alot of insurance plans though consider pregnancy a "pre-existing condition" and won't pay if your already pregnant. Other than transporation, is there any reason she can't work? And why is she not interested in finishing school? A job is going to be hard to find without an education. And no offense, our tax dollars don't want to pay for her and a baby forever. She should try to find a social worker at SRS or something to help her take care of some of these issues. Best of luck.

I just turned 19 this month and just had my baby 2 months ago. I went down to the social services office and applied for medical. There is no reason that your sister can't work during her pregnancy until a doctor tells her not to. She may need to work at least 20 hours a week to qualify for free health coverage. Also her baby's daddy is also responsible for paying for her medical care. Get in touch with that child support services!! Also check out an adult school to finish her highschool education. Right now i work, take care of my two month old and go to school. I've been through 18 in school and pregnant and it is possible. She's not helpless she can do it. Also WIC has a nutrition program where you get milk cheese eggs formula juice and cereal for free you just need to make your appointments and classes. I really like it and the classes are sooo helpful

She can get on medicaid and WIC to help with her baby.Tell her to find a jobAnd she can work untill she's like 6 or 7 months unless her doctor says otherwise.Even a little money helps.Raising a child when you're young is soo hard.I had my son when I was almost 15 years old but I made it all the way through high school. She can do.And she needs your support

Are you talking about insurance or government help? She needs to get a job. If she knows who the father is he is legally bound in the state of Texas to pay child support. I still don't know what you mean by "insurance", life insurance anyone can get. Medicaid is another form of CHIP. I'm sorry, but hope this helped.

What state do you live in? I live in AZ and I was 18 when I got pregnant as well. I didn't have a job either I lived with my parents and was not eligible for their insurance.

1st thing got to your local Department of Economic Security walk in fill out an application. She needs to apply for everything Cash Assistance (this will help with diapers, etc.), Food Stamps (this will help with formula and babyfood), and Medical. She is 18 so she is a risk at her young age so she will qualify.

2nd thing look up your local WIC Group. (Women, Infant, Children) this group is funded by the state and is wonderful, they provide mothering classes while your pregnant along with nutritional classes for mother while pregnant and if needed after birth for breast feeding mothers and other classes as well.

WIC will also provide formula for the baby and food such as peanut butter for mom and cereal and milk and eggs things that will help the babies brain and body form correctly.

Good Luck, hope I was helpful.

If she is still living at home she will not qualify for medicade, unless your parent's income is below average for the ammount of people. She may just have to try to find a job so she can get insurance through the state, but if no insurance for the previous 3 months her pregnancy will be considered a pre-existing condition and she will have to pay out of pocket for her prenatal care, and the hospital.

Medicaide should only take around 1 wk go to the health department and they will set her up after her positive preg test for pregnacy medicaide.
other than that she can get on PeachCare for kids im not sure if tx has it you could search into it but they have like a co-pay of like 20.00 a month i think but you can keep it till shes 19. also medicaide should cover her preg. or not until shes 19.
But check into those options

WELL IN GEORGIA, WE HAVE WHAT THEY CALL MEDICAID, IT PAYS FOR EVERYTHING WHILE THE MOTHER IS PREGNANT, AND FOR 3 MONTHS AFTER THE BABY IS BORN. THEN IT WILL TRANSFER OVER TO THE BABY AND THE MOTHER WONT HAVE ANY INSURANCE. DOES SHE NOT REALIZE HOW MUCH IT TAKES TO RAISE A CHILD.? THE WAY I LOOK AT IT IS, IF SHES TO LAZY TO GET OFF HER *** AND GET A JOB AND INSURANCE, WHY SHOULD THE STATE HAVE TO SUPPORT HER LAZY ***? WHEN THAT BABY GETS HERE, SHES GONNA REALIZE WHAT LIFE IS REALLY LIKE. AND IF SHE STILL DOESNT GET A JOB OR GO BACK TO SCOOL , ID TAKE THAT KID AWAY FROM HER TOO. BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY, SHES NOT MEANT TO BE A MOTHER!
