No. Unless it was an experiment in sociology, how people respond in an environment that is more relaxed related to education.

You're asking simply if I would expect it to be written that way, no, I would expect it to be written methodically and straightforward. I assume that's why people use the saying, "well that's a textbook case of . . ." There is a standard I suppose, so people just expect textbooks to be logical and predictable.

Depends on the topic - I wouldn't expect a conversational book on taxation, but perhaps it may be more apropo in a book on selling or communication.

Bear in mind, this is all relative - I wouldn't expect to find a textbook written in Tom Wolfe style for any subject!

Generally no, but there are some subjects out there that a conversational tone for a text book is the appropriate way to go.

Yeah, sometimes textbooks have quite an edge to them. However, that isn't how it should be. But what can you do?
