tight and short.
for high pitch you want higher frequency of vibration. A short string vibrates faster than a long one. And a more taught string vibrates faster than a loose one because it has more energy stored.

Try it yourself and find out! Get a piece of string and pull it tight, pluck it and see what happens. If you just get the answers and then memorize them science isn't fun!
