I don't think there is ever a good way to ask for a divorce. First I would just make sure that this is something you definitely want and have exhausted all other options, counseling, seperation etc. I think to be upfront and honest. However, if this is an abusive relationship, I would make sure that you have others with you, either family or police or even a lawyer, and if you are taking things, take what you need at the time of the papers, and only go back to the house with someone with you. I'm sorry, and hope things work out for you.

There is no "best way" to ask for a divorce. What you attempting to do is ruin your husband financially (and maybe emotionally) and place your children in a position of having to choose one parent over the other for the remainder of their lives.

Tack on the fact that they will have to resolve many issues surrounding the divorce themselves. It can lead to "acting out" behaviors, early sex and experimentation with drugs. It would be best to wait until the children are at least 18 before you split...but it seems that you have made up your mind for whatever reason.

You should tell you husband of your intentions and together you both should tell your children reenforcing the fact that you're not divorcing them and that you still ove them....you see children blame themselves for the divorce.

Divorce is the death of a small community and you are bringing about that death. So sorry.......there is no "best way" to kill off a community.

Check out the following web site. It's a site for guys but many women find it useful. It can answer you questions better than I can. It details very closely the effects on the family and the children.

I don't think there is a best way to ask for a divorce either way someones either going to be hurt or pi**ed off and divorce is never easy theres always one party that doesnt want the divorce so they do anything they can to make the one who wants the divorce life as miserable as they can or they do everything they can to stop the divorce and its complicated when children are involved so if you can get your sig other yo come to a settlement then good for you if not then prepare for it to get bitter.Try to be as civil as you can to him for the kids.

This will never happen...but here goes:
Search all your feelings & past with the guy. Figure out exactly what went wrong with your marriage. Tell him exactly. Give him some time to think about it and come back with his response.

Some people were never meant to be with each other....at least be friends. However, If he thinks he can correct the problem, give him a 2nd chance...to prove himself.

You may not want to hear this, but the kids deserve a chance.

If you're this uncomfortable talking about it, then just have the papers served. Go file for divorce, and the court/lawyer will take care of the rest.

There really isn't any 'good' way to do it and it largely depends on your husbands attitude. If he is mean or violent you ask from a distance after you have already taken the kids and left. If he is a more rational person you just send the kids to grandma and talk to him calmly about it.

I just wanted to let you know that it's apparent that this relationship cannot continue. It's something that we have both known for quite some time now.

You should be receiving documents in the next day or to that will begin the process of ending our marriage.

Have a wonderful day!

Get your husband and three or four other guys to stand side by side.

Then ask everybody who is going to have a divorce in the next few months to take one giant step backwards.

When your husband doesn't take a giant step backwards, tell him that he should.

Well if you have tried counceling and he's aware of a problem then don't ask.... Hire a lawyer BEFORE you talk to him. Send the kids to Mom's house and present him with the papers and a suitcase.
