19 is a young adult. But be aware that the number does not determine your maturity level. I know some 18 year olds who are more mature than some 28 year olds. Being an adult comes with responsibilities such as being able to take care of yourself financially by paying for your food, clothing and shelter. Also an adult shoul make sound decisions. I became a mother at 19 so I had to either grow up or short change my daughter as her mother. I opted to grow up but it wasn't a walk in the park. My daughter is 14 almost 15 now and she's a wonderful young lady.

In some ways you are an adult: you can be charged as an adult for any crimes and misdemeanors that you commit, you can vote, you can join (or be drafted into) the armed services, you no longer need parent/guardian signatures on forms. In most states you can’t drink…but if you don’t do that to begin with than it cannot be a factor in adulthood.
Really, you are a teenaged adult…but an adult none-the-less.

I think what determines whether you are an adult or not, is the responsibility that you are willing to take for your life and your future. I've seen some 16 year olds that were more well grounded than some adults I know. Don't rush being an adult.....and enjoy being your age!
