My waterbed has a ruptured seam. It's several years old and I want to know if I can patch it or if I should just throw it away and get a new one

I'm by no means a waterbed repairman, but I was a pool service technician for 15 years. This isn't too far off what I used to deal with.
Tears or holes in a seam can't be successfully patched. Period.
They can, however, be re welded. Call around to local furniture repair shops or even auto shops offering upholstery. One of them is bound to have a vinyl welder on staff. We used to use a guy from an auto shop for our seam repairs, worked great and you have the advantage that you can take it to him, not him travel to you.

I wouldn't trust a patch on the seam - not even temporarily.

no...sorry.
there is nothing....not even super glue...that will stand up to the test of time and water pressure...

sugjestion...befor thowing it in the recycle bin. cut large piece of it off...to be used as patches for the next waterbed you buy...

in theory, yes.they usually come with a little patch and glu,but i've tried to hold down the patch first ewith glue, then with electrical tape-the patch always pops off again.save urself the aggro and buy another.

You may be able to patch it but if the seams are weak you will soon have another leak..........best bet is to get a new one.....

Go far a new one, seam rips can rarely be successfully repaired.
