There are 490 bills in a pound so 1 million in $1 bills would weigh
2,040.8 pounds. If you could carry say, 100 pounds, you would have $49,000. Its a decent amount of money but I wouldn't say you were rich.

No. You aren't rich because some one has gifted you 1,000,000 dollars. To avoid tax fraud, you'll need to pay around 40 percent in taxes, leaving you with 600k. In California, that will buy you a modest 4 bedroom house. Nice chunk of change, but by no means rich. At least not in todays day in age. Transporting the cash wouldn't be a problem either, 1,000,000 bills could be quickly loaded in boxes into a truck. The weight would be heavy, but a heavy duty 1-ton pickup should be able to handle it. let a lone a moving truck, or armored car.

You would still have to pay about 28% Federal Income tax, that would leave you with only $720,000.00

You are not "rich", unless you can live off of the gains from that money, and not have to work.

If you invested that money into tax free municipal bonds, and were making a gain of 5.00% per year, and reinvesting 1% of it so that it would also grow to counter inflation, you would be taking home $2,400 tax free every month for the first year.

$720,000 * 0.04 = $28,800 per year
$28,800 / 12 = $2400 per month

And because it is tax free, it would be the equivilant of making about $50,000 per year.

More realistically, you might get 4.5% out of tax free munis.

Sure. You didn't say I had to carry it away by hand or all at once. without those limits in your"equation" it's mathematically possible.
Some more math: 1 answer = 2 points.

Yes, just call a trustworthy friend who owns a pickup truck to help you haul it to a bank. You better offer him/her a reward or percentage, though!
