Any way to get a kid to walk sooner?

I have an 11 month old and I bet a guy 50 bucks that he'd be walking by 12 months. Any tried and true ways to promote my son's learning to walk?

not really kids will walk when they want too, especially boys don't seem to want to walk until after 1. Get some of those push walkers for him and walk with him, also try taking both his hands and encouraging him, but it might not help. My step-son didn't walk until he was 18 months old, didn't even have an interest then just got up and started walking one day. Now my daughter started walking at 7 months and that was fun let me tell you! DOn't rush it.

There is a chair called a baby walker, that is on wheels that the kid is supported in and can use his/her feet to move around. Its also got a bumper around it so if he/she runs into walls they can't hurt themselves. Plus you can hold them up by the hands and walk with them from the couch or chair across the room to another chair or end table to give them the idea to try and mimic that action. A lot of exercise like that helps to strengthen their legs. Try also a lot of encouragement.

Forcing a child to walk too early can actually damage their bones and joints, so don't rush.

If the kid is climbing and pulling themselves upright on things, then you can get one of those toy pushcarts and encourage them to move them around; pretty soon, they might let it go to walk to another object a short distance away.
