I respect Ralph Nader. I read his book Unsafe at Any Speed, and I see the changes that he has brought about to make our cars safer. Often he acts as the social conscious of our nation. He was worried about Green House gases and pollution long before Al Gore was.

I never respected Boy George (or Thing George as I called him). He was actually stupid enough to call the police to report his drugs had been stolen. He deserves Iraq and all the trouble it will give him.

Despite what President Bush says, Iraq is descending into civil war. Dictators like Sadam and the Shaw of Iran were brutal and cruel to their people. Now we know why; they had to keep the Sunnis and the Shiites in line or watch their country dissolve into civil war.

We had a chance to take Iraq and install a good government, but we didn’t use enough troops and our goals were short sighted. The Bush Administration wanted to finish Daddy’s War so they went into it with the goal of defeating Sadam, and his army. They gave no thought to what would happen next. We created a power vacuum and something would have to fill it. After the Soviets left Afghanistan the Talibin filled their vacuum, and made a mess of things. When the Shaw of Iran fled Iraq the Ayatollah, and a religious government filled the vacuum, with all the mess we have now. These governments have no business being on the world stage, they are too immature. Iran proved that when they invaded our embassy and took hostages, embassies have long been considered sovereign territory of the nation they represent—an invasion of an embassy is a declaration of war on that nation. The Talibin proved it when they started destroying monuments, from a dead religion, that had stood for 1000s of years. The people who worshiped here were long gone; the monuments were only of cultural and historic value. But, the Talibin wanted them destroyed. Even when other nations offered to remove them the Talibin just wanted to blow them up.

I don’t know if the Middle Eastern Countries are ready for something as complicated as democracy. Our government thought that they were, but it takes a culturally advanced people to handle it. Electing leaders and having a government where the powers are balanced between several branches of government is a difficult thing to achieve. Many countries have failed at it and their democracies have turned into dictatorships. I think the same will be true in Iran.

The sectarian violence will only escalate. After the Bush Administration is removed from office I think that things will swing in the Democrats favor and they will try to draw down the troops quickly. We need to stay in Iraq long enough to insure the government will survive, but I think it is doomed. The only thing that can unite it will be a dictator, and those people favor a religious dictatorship. They need a strong force to stop the civil war, and they will only trust a religious leader to unite the various religious factions.

So let Boy George rule Iran, he will be deposed quickly and a new religious state, very much like Iran will arise.

I'm starting to think John Skerry is actually Ralph Nader

So I definitely think Nader should be President of Iraq. It would bring new meaning to the Green Zone.

Go big Red Go

Given those two choices, I'd have to go with Nader, due to his having more political knowledge. Although Boy George would have a more interesting presidential wardrobe.
