Was she helpful? If so, what kind of things was she helpful with? Would you do it again? Was she worth the money, given that she was helping you through a c-section rather than a vaginal delivery?

I wish I would have. My planned c-section went much easier than my emergency c-section but I thought it would have been better...well, planned. Having someone help make sure the nurses and doctors and resident did everything they could have would have been nice. I was treated like I wasn't even there and the baby was handed-off to my husband who took her to the nursery (not to be seen again for a while) and I had nobody with me to help me with the anxiety I was already feeling about everything. I was told I would be with my baby almost the whole time unless there were complications but no complications and they sent her and hubby away.

If I were to do it again, I'd have my mother or a good friend be with me when hubby was away with the baby. I was the most annoying mother asking a million questions, all of which were greeted like I was a thorn in somebody's side.

No matter what, make sure you are clear about everything that will happen during delivery and afterward.

Isn't that a contradiction...doula & c-section? I dunno, I guess if you didn't have anyone else to be with you during the birth then it would be worth it. I jsut always thought doulas were for nautral vaginal labors.
