14.82+a=10.47
a=-25.29
is not right unless it is supposed to say =-10.47.
The correct answer would be a=-4.35
if p=0.75 and q=-1.6,evaluate p+q-(-0.7)
or .75 + (-1.6) - (-.07)
or .75-1.6+.7
= -.78
q: 6+|q-2|=-1
-1 - 6 = -7 so, (Q-2) has to = -7, so, "what" - 2 will equal -7? The answer is -5

1 is correct if it is (8x3) - (42/7) = 24- 6 =18
2 is not correct
14.82 + a = 10.47
subtract 14.82 from Both sides
a = 10.47 - 14.82
a = -4.35
3 is correct 0.75 + (-1.6) + 0.7 = 0.15
forgot the rules for absolute value, except that it means whatever is inside the absolute value has to be changed to a Positive. good luck!

the first question is correct...second one is not. The answer is q= -4.35 (B/C 10.47-14.82= -4.35 because you're trying to solve for a. thats why you subtract it that way) The 3rd problem is correct.
4th: 6+[q-2]= -1. Get 6 to the other side by subtracting it from both sides, and you're left with the following: [q-2]=-7
Now since this is an absolute value problem, you make to equations one being negative the other one being positive and you will have two answers for q. So, equation number 1: q-2=-7, solve for q by adding 2 to both sides, and you will have: q=-5. Equation number 2: q-2=7, solve for q and you will have q=9.
So your final answer is q=-5,9
I couldn't find the absolute value bars so i used brackets instead...If this is of any help e-mail me at check16ers@yahoo.com

18 is correct
-25.29 is not correct. You need to subtract 14.82 from both sides to come up with a = 10.47-14.82 which is -4.35 UNLESS you types wrong and it should be -10.47 then your answer is right.
-0.15 is also correct
The last one has no answer or else is typed wrong. you would subtract 6 from both sides so you'd have absolute value q-2 = -7 but Absolute Value by definition cannot be negative.
Absolute Value is the straight lines you are using - the definition is the number of whole units to get to zero (essentially 2 and -2 both have abs val of 2, etc, etc)

The first is correct.
The second one should be -4.35. (subtract 14.82 from each side)
The third is correct.
Fourth can not be solved
6 + |q-2| = -1
|q-2|=-7
Absolute value can not be negative. -5 as some have listed is incorrect as |-5-2| = |-7| = 7 not -7.

the first and the third problems are correct!
as for the second problem, the solution is:
14.82 + a = 10.47
a = 10.47 - 14.82
a = -4.35
the technique her is just to switch 14.82 to the other sde, making it negative.
for your last question...
6 + Iq - 2I = -1
in these cases, always isolate the absoute value term in one side of the equation.
Iq - 2I = -1 - 6
Iq - 2I = -7
There is no solution for q, because absolute values must ALWAYS be positive.

24-6, k=18
14.82-10.47=4.35
a=-4.35
0.75+1.6-(-0.7)=0.75+1.6+0.7
3.05
6+|q-2|=-1
6+1+|q-2|=0
7+|q-2|=0
value of q is irrelevant, the equation is unsolvable. the expression |q-2| would have to equal -7 for the equation to be true. but the vertical line brackets mean absolute value which by definition is positive.

number 1 is right. I don't think 2 is correct. add a -14.82 to both sides so 10.47 - 14.82 = -4.35... you can check it 14.82 -4.35=10.47 so a=-4.35 right?
i'm workin on the last 2
