Limewire itself is legal.

It depends what you do with it though (eg downloading copyrighted music, pornography which is illegal in your area etc)

I don't use it, I use iTunes, and a lot of times, people's limewire accounts appear on iTunes. Limewire probably isn't legal, and it's free but I think that there's a virus with it.

limewire is free (you can get the pro version which cost ..but Dont)as to legal as with anything it depend on how you use it (downloading copy righted; movies/music/games ect..is not legal)
downloading movies Trailers & Clips,non copy righted music/images/games(freeware)/(shareware) is legal)

lime wire has two different types limewire basic and limewirepro the basic is free of charge and the pro is $18.99 they say that the pro is faster but the basic is free but it's very illegal.

The software istself is legal and free. Some things you can get there are illegal. Anything that has been copyrighted you should pay for it.

And Yes, it is legal IF you use it to download uncopyrighted files.

If you download music or programs with it that is copyrighted, then you're using it illegally.

But the program itself is legal.

It is free, the legality depends on what you use it for. If you use it to download copywritten material such a music and movies, then it's illegal.
