Don't get me wrong, its a nice country and I have met a few nice people, but in some areas the arrogance is unbelievable. Experiences of nice americans and bad are both appreciated in answers.

God bless America!

(cough!)

I've no idea. Most of them havent even left their own state, let alone been abroad.

God bless England! errrr..........that doesnt really work does it?

"Land of the free?" it's the most censored country in the western world! what a joke! Who spoon feeds them all this tosh?

Europeans tend to look down their nose at Americans anyway as cultureless morons

"Lay off the Americans, if it wasn't for them we would all be talking German now"

What kind of stupid reasoning is that. Yeah, forgive anything Americans do because they've saved us learning another language.
America are carving out an empire bigger than anything the Nazis ever did. They've just become a bit more subtle about the way they dispense with people and use propaganda. But wait, what's that you say? The Americans didn't commit genocide and put them in camps. Native Americans. The Americans drew up the blueprint for the Germans. No one society is perfect, and whoever is running the show at the time - Americans, British, Romans, Ottomans, is going to be the focal point of animosity for the rest of the less well off world. That's the end of it. Now go and watch some Bill Hicks.

Oh and the 'land of the free' , you are probably the most highly monitored and controlled society in the world bar China and North Korea. Patriot Act anyone? You're free to do as you're told, nothing else.

Americans that I know personally, friends and colleagues, are very nice people.

However, a majority (I can say) of Americans I knew over the internet are arrogant, self-centred, and think that the rest of the world is just there for them, and this could be sensed from their definition for self-defense as terrorist act and invasion as liberation. They're brain-washed I guess, and hell, they're showing it to the rest of the world!

Some one here mentioned that they are the land of free! Have not they heared about UK, Holland, Austria,.. etc. I agree, western experiment is successful, however, with the American's being the worst example.

Did she mention best food and retail chains? Have not she heared about Italian food, French cuisine, Japanese food.. etc. Don't they know that they have ruined the world's taste with their junk? And retail chains? I've never heared of a shopping trip to the USA, I know people would travel to Paris, to Milano, to London for their shopping but not to the states!!!

No offense meant, and I really love my American freinds and colleagues, and appreciate the practical approaches towards life that we were taught by Americans, however, this is the truth about American false superioity from a non-American perspective.

We have good and bad in our country, just like anywhere else. If we're applying generalizations the French aren't arrogant? Or the Germans? I think it's the person, not the country.

Thats incredibly rude to say that. We as Americans do NOT think we're better than anybody else! Certain individuals do, but the majority of our Great County does not. Maybe its because quite a bit of Americans are rich and think they can do whatever they want with their money, but people act the same in other countries...I love America and would never want to move anywhere else. LOL that makes me sound arrogant haha but im not.

Arrogance is everywhere, not just America.
Some people are just like that.

I've been to other countries and have met foreigners in this country that are pretty arrogant.

I wouldn't go as far as you did and point out which ones though.

I don't think I'm better than everyone else! But I do have to say that there are arrogant, conceited people everywhere. Not just in America. It is unfortunate though.

I too am tired of all the big-headed people.

I am American, and I just think that's how some of us are. I'm not like that, but it's mostly rich people who think they're "better than everyone else." I know what your saying, I see it everyday, but that's just what I have to deal with, and people are like that. But if your talking about Americans thinking that they're better than the British, Irish, or Australian, I think you're wrong. Just because we have "more free rights" and all, doesn't make us better than anyone else. I respect other cultures and beliefs, but I don't think so strongly about us Americans, that we are better than ya'll.

Because we are. Our country is the land of the free. You get all these rights. Our president constantly changes instead being stuck with a king or a queen. If you have a dream, you can achieve that dream. We have the best food over here. Some the best retail chains are here.

Yeah, why do they, I have now lived half my life in America, born and raised in Holland, and I will let you know though, that every country feels that way about themselves, which I guess is a good thing to think highly of yourself, but all countries/cultures have a lot to learn, and I am very glad to live here in America
