The minutes are the same. The only difference is that military time is based on a 24 hour period like Europe. When it's 1 PM it's the hour after 12 Noon right? So instead of going to 1 again it goes to 1300... 12, 13, 14, get it? If you want to know what time it is in military time in the afternoon just take away 1200 or 12 hours. 1300 - 1200 = 1 o'clock. Or to convert regular time to military add 12 to it. 5:00 PM + 1200 = 1700. There are still 60 minutes in an hour. 40 minutes = 40 minutes.
