The pats arent gonna pay him so there seeing what they can get for him instead, either way this cripples the pats in the long run. They should just trade him for peanuts or release him but thats not gonna happen. So lets say he signs a deal that not as much as orginally thought up.Other (very deserving) players might seek this method also. That would still hit the pats cap. Now, what if he sits the whole season or leaves? The pats dont make the playoffs!!! hahahaha!! a catch 22!!!

The Jags may make a move with Jimmy Smith(who was awesome on Madden)retiring
The Chiefs putting some body opposite of Eddie K
The Bears maybe just to push up there superbowl stock??

Let's look at this question from a financial stand point. Branch is going to make a bit over $1 million this season; his salary jumps to about $6.25 million next season or somewhere around there. Branch is fast, but not exceptionally so, but he does have nice hands. Also, Branch has had the best Super Bowl numbers of any WR in league history (even Jerry Rice). The Patriots have made it clear that they are looking for nothing lower than a high second-round pick in exchange for Branch; I doubt many teams will be willing to trade that high of a pick for him.

There are a lot of good WR's who are supposedly coming out in the 2007 NFL draft...around 4 or 5 projected to go in the first round (including Dwayne Jarrett from USC, Calvin Johnson from G. Tech, and Ted Ginn from OSU)...a rebuilding team with lots of cap space (49ers, Jets, Bills, etc...) will probably be more interested in drafting one of those younger players and signing them to long term contracts. With the Eagles having traded for Donte Stallworth (who's better than any of their other options); Cowboys probably won't release TO, no matter how big of a headache he is...Deion Branch will probably be back on the field in a Patriots uniform in due time.

I don't think he will be traded at all. The Pats are just trying to show him that what they offered him was fair. No-one is going to give him the kind of money he is looking for and give the Patriots something in return to take him especially since his stats do not indicate what type of player he is as Brady throws to everyone. He is a fool to leave. If he would just counter the offer the Pats made to him in the first place instead of asking that they do not Franchise tag him there would be no problems in the first place. The Pats were more than willing to deal with him. He does know he did sign a contract right? He does know he won't be a free agent until next year right? If he didn't like the deal they gave him and he wants out just play as his contract is written and leave next year. The Pat's are certainly not going to Franchise tag him as he will not be worth the amount of money the Franchise tag would put on him.

i think he's going to the Dallas Cowboys becase Terrell Owens is starting to bring that stuff that the Philadelphia Eagles had to deal with over to cowboys and Dallas isn't going to put it

I agree with Elminster. They aren't going to trade him they are just showing him that nobody is going to pay him what he wants not to mention on the off chance that someone did it wouldn't be a superbowl ready team like the Patriots are. They are the constant team to beat and consistent on all sides of the ball. He'd be crazy to leave.

No one. The Pats are just posturing in an attempt to make him realize that no one's going to pay him the money he wants...and the asking price of a first round pick(or two!) is much too steep...
