Why are people making such a big deal, and criticising NBC for the opening scene of the Emmy's? It certainly is a coincidence, but to say NBC was making fun of the real-life crash earlier that day is just ridiculous. I doubt the people at NBC planning the show had any time to watch the news Sunday, even if they saw or heard about the crash they were probally too stressed to relize there was a mock plane crash in the show. Do you think NBC was wrong in airing the opening, or do you think it was just an unfortunate coincidence?

Let's see...first off.....for those who feel it was insensitive....gimme a flippin break. Accidents happen....where did this country go soft on life? Plus, if anyone was related to any of the victims of the Comair plane crash, you think they would be watching the Emmy's while they are still grieving their losses? On that note, Conan was hilarious, the awards speeches sucked, the dresses were fabulous, the show is way too long, and I'm glad that 24 won 2 Emmy's. But ultimately, if people are going to get this oversensitive, then that means that ABC will have to cancel the entire season of 'Lost", because the whole premise of the show is that their plane crashed. You see how ridiculous that sounds? My heart goes out to the families of the victims of this senseless Comair accident, but c'mon, what the hell has happened to this country? Why are we so soft and hyper-sensitive to every little thing that might offend our sensibilities? Those who are sincerely complaining have too much time on their hands....and too little substance in their brains.

I live in Cincinnati and had been listening to the news of the crash all day. I fly on Comair regularly, so it really had an impact on me. Later that night, I was watching the Emmy's. The crash scene was a little disturbing and it just brought my mind back to the real crash.
However, I do think this was just an untimely coincidence. There had not been a serious plane crash in the US since 2001. If I had not just been watching a real plane crash, the opening scenes would have been funny. I think it would be very hard for the producers to completely change the opening in only a few hours.

I believe this isn't NBC's fault. I just read on the newswires that the producer for the Emmy Awards is going to apologize to the Network. The subject came up during the Govenor's Ball. I believe that the satire was more directed at the tv show Lost rather than a real crash.

It a joke about Lost that NBC got criticized and people are too sensitive after 911 and that why we all go to 2 wars and now I love to ask where are we going to pay for these Wars of us and how are we going to reduce 9 trillions deficit that we have now? In my opinion Com on what is priority in this country? Get real, People.

I don't think criticizing NBC is fair. People are too sensitive to things they shouldn't. Maybe the Emmy's should have been canceled, after all people can't be happy when others are not, right? People need to mature.

Supposedly NBC had no information on the other plane crash... definitely coincidence, as stated.

Coincidence...The actual opening scene you are referring to was 'pre-taped' long before the night of airing of the Emmy's.
