What do they mean by Burning CD's?

its like writing a CD . putting data on the disc. when a CD is written , actually a laser is used for writing the data . this laser ' burns' the data surface in putting the 1s & 0s data ( a film on the acrylic disc ) and hence the turm burning a disc. for details see the source below:
