You need to call your cell phone provider. Tell them it was stolen. They will disable the SIM card and the phone will be cut off. You need to do this now because you are legally responsible for all charges to the line until you report it stolen. If you talk with the company they may offer you a discount or even a free phone to replace the stolen one. Some people think you won't be able to keep your number, but you can. They will just change the SIM number on file from the old one to the new and you can continue using your number and new phone without worrying about the other still being active. Hope this helps.

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone:* # 0 6 #
A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. Should your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either.

Did you steal the phone and want to have it activated or was yours stolen? If yours was stolen , that is a no brainer, call your provider so that someone does not rack up your bill. If you stole it, and it was reported stolen you can not activate it. If it has not been reported stolen and you use it , and it is later reported, some can be traced while in use and then mr. policeman will come and pay you a visit.

As someone provides customer service at a cell phone center, you need to contact customer care and have them suspend your service, no physical changes can be made to your device or sim card (ie delet pictures or phone book entries) but they can prevent someone from using your phone to place calls. Personal recomendation: txt msg to your phone offering a reward for its return, it worked for 2 customers I've spoken with in the last 6 months.

you should call your service provider to cancel your account.
some countries also have a registry of the cell (mobile phone) handset unique identification serial number.
that registry can permanently disable the phone if you are the registered owner.
