Anytime you eliminate any major food group from your diet, you are going to be lacking in nutrition. While fruit and veggies are a good first start, you should also add lean protein and whole grains.

Cut out the sweet stuff (even the supposed low fat sweet stuff at first.) That means no soda (even diet - replace with water.)

And also, a good quality multivitamin taken every day.

And then start an exercise routine. Maybe as simple as walking around the block at first, until you build a fitness level. But find an activity you enjoy that requires consistent movement. (Window shopping at the mall doesn't count!) You want 30-45 minutes of aerobic activity every day. And the definition of aerobic is any movement done in oxygen for 30 minutes or more.

Do that and you will drop weight. Guaranteed.

Yes, more than likely.
However, if you eat a lot of sugar and simple-carb-rich veggies such as potatoes, carrots, corn, and squash, you may not get the results you want. Also, the best method of weight-loss is to make dietary changes that you can stick with after you lose the weight. Otherwise you will likely revert back to your old ways and your old weight.
