if u mean to clean them out, once every twenty years or after you've done a major dusty remodel job and haven't changed the filter.

The frequency of servicing by HVAC service personnel is pretty much determined by the regularity of air filter changes on the part of the homeowner. Do it once per month and you will forestall expensive service calls. If it'll put your mind at ease you can have an annual fall furnace checkup, but you'll probably be wasting your money. If it ain't broke don't fix it - is a good rule to follow. Ductwork cleaning is, more often than not, an unnecessary expense. The K.I.S.S. approach is best when dealing with most of life's problems - Keep it simple, stupid! (Not directed at you but for you) Good luck.

It would be a good idea to get your unit serviced once in the Spring, before hot weather and once in the Fall before the cold weather comes. The techs should oil and lubricate-change filters, and check for freon. Some may think it's a waste of money, but they may be able to find a pontential problem. Better to find out earlier than to have a problem in 100 degree or 20 degree weather!
