I live in San Diego and I often go to Mt. Soledad, it's absolutely beautiful, especially the cross. It's a symbol of those who have died for this great country. When I hear about Liberals wanting to tear down the cross because they are "offended" by it, then it really pisses me off. Why are they offended by a cross? Why are they trying to strip everything about Christianity out of America? But they are so willing to embrase Islam and scientology, especially when Islamic radicalists are such a world wide problem right now? Do people realize that taking down a cross offends ME? And maybe I should sue THEM for offending me in their efforts. Are they trying to take away our religious freedom? Besides, why are they so "offended" by it? This country is about tolerance. I am often offended by the things that are showed on TV or said on the radio. Things that are much worse then a simple cross on a mountain, I mean watch TV after 10 and all you see is filth. Should I sue to have it taken off?

Okay. I am a libral and I do not want crosses taken off things. There is a hospital where I live. I was born there I am Catholic. I have gone there for major things. It got bought out by a for profit company and I went to see a mother of a friend of the family. The for profit ripped all the crosses off the wall and did not bother to repaint. Then there they are all these shaddows of crosses that were removed. Why did they have to do that? It offended me. I talked to my doctor and told her about it. She said yeah I know. Many of the staff including the doctor who still worked there are catholic and were offended. The hospital does not have to worry now because their staff and patients have left.
Not all librals are offended by religion. I see it all the time. If it is historical religion it would be especially offensive to tear it down. Look into declaring it historical or a monument. I do not know what is wrong with where you live, but I live in a very libral place and we value our culture. My friend is Jewish and she misses home and wants her mother to come back and take photos of the churches here.
If this is your history try to keep it. Some librals are religious.
My mom is a really intense libral. She wanted to celebrate holidays in the public schools. They have allowed her to because she celebrates all of them. If they want her to add one she will.
Try not to get upset. Please just try to preserve and talk about history and how wonderful this is. I am glad you brought that up.
I do not care that the crosses are gone from that hospital now because it just shows that the care and love are gone and that it is a horrible hospital and not a caring place. The good people left with the crosses.
I hear the tear down everything historic in CA anyway. If it is historic protect it. You need something for a memory there.
Do clean up the TV get rid of those Girls gone wild shows.

last time I checked this country was not embracing Islam. Your comments show your ignorance about the religion that was no doubt influenced by the media bias in this country. i was born and raised here and with the exception of one trip i have not left the continental us. However, i feel like most people look at me as foreigner and outsider. My religious holdays are not recognized. i didnt get a day off for "eid" when i was in school even though there are just as many muslims in this country as jews. until recently (last five years) most calenders did not even write the holidays in. Jewish holidays are recognized (as they should be) in this country. So please dont say that muslims or islam are being embraced. its anything but. we are tolerated and in some places not even that much.

It's because they don't understand the difference between the government respecting the establishment of religion, and using a symbol on a monument.
Using a symbol on a monument does NOT in any way, endorse Christianity, contrary to the beliefs of liberals.
(Btw, I'm an atheist that is very much in favor of the seperation of church and state, and I certainly don't want to see the ten commandments in my courtroom. I just know that a memorial is a different situation)

Liberals don't like it, because it's posting a religious item on public property, which we believe is the government endorsing one religion.
Likewise, if there were monuments with the words, "There is no god," written all over them, the liberals would just as well be complaining about it.

I don't want to look at an ugly cross on government land. You could put up hundreds of symbols of different religions, and turn that mountain into a trash heap.

Thank you for sharing your feelings. You are clearly hurt by this. Have you recieved a hug yet today? Try reaching out to a loved one, or even a beoved pet. Its important that you find a support system of people who care. Have a gentle day.

Well would you mind other religious symbols being displayed on that same mountain? See that's the thing once you cater to one religion you have to cater to ALL religions and that gets expensive

How difficult life must be for a conservative whinny. If I may quote you: "This country is about tolerance." Why don't you try it?
