Geez! Everyone settle down! I get what you're getting at with the separate bathrooms, but everyone's wiggin' out about possible homophobia. The reason males and females have different bathrooms is because their sexual orientation is (assumed) towards each other. I don't care if a lesbian is a woman, I would feel uncomfortable in an intimate situation with one because she is, by definition, sexually attracted to the female body.
I think it's a fair question, but doesn't hold any water. Lets stick to males and female bathroom, and the occasional family bathroom for dads that need to help their daughters:).

This truely shows how ignorant our society can be. So were you around when there was segregation??? I am just woindering because that is what you are trying to imply! There is no difference between gays and straights when it comes to using the restroom, if you are that scared of bneing checked out by a "Fag", then you need to just stay home, get real and get over it. We are humankind, not to be seperated by what we look like, what we like sexually, how smart we are or stupid maybe in your case!! But we were created equally not to be seperated by the pettiest discrimination!! I pray for the day that we will have people who accept everyone for who they are and that only, who cares if you are gay straight, black or white, male or female....who cares, open up a book and maybe get an education before youopen your mouth please!!

Because being gay doesnt change your gender. it just changes your sexuality. Pretty much, what ever plumbing you have determines what bathroom you can use. (with the exception of pre-op trannies, who in some states are allowed to use the womens toilet, but they have to completely live their lives as women.)
Also- being gay doesnt mean you have some sort of catchy disease that can put the society in whole at risk.. They are just like everyone else- and the sooner people accept that, and realize it really isnt any of their business what people do behind closed doors will be great!

there are two reasons I can think of right off hand.
1. separating the "gays" and "straights" would be discrimination similar to when the blacks and whites had seperate bathrooms, water fountains, seats on the bus etc etc. Which by the way if you haven't heard discrimination is bad, apparently you missed that memo.
2. It's alot cheaper to only have to put in two bathrooms instead of four.

Because gay people are Male and Female. They are not a separate sex.
They're in there to take a piss, not try to covert you to homosexuality. Don't worry!

I am no attorney, but I would imagine that would be considered a violation of their rights. just like segregation way back when, african americans fought to have the right to the same facilities, busses, jobs, etc as caucasians. A person's sexual preference has no bearing as to what bathroom they use.

Same reason that total dillweeds like you don't have to have special toilets...you can't tell them from normal people...actually most gay people can speak without giving away their particular differnce whereas dillweeds like you are easy to spot as soon as they open their mouths.

Because gays aren't a different gender, they are a different orientation.
