What team had the best national anthem?
I would say Italy because not only is their anthem amazing they actually would sing it every World Cup game! Now thats hot.

Well, to just about everybody there will be none as cool as their own anthem, and that's just how things should be.
You can't judge anthems by the way they sound at the World Cup, though; Argentina's, for example, was only an ugly version of the instrumental introduction. That's why the fans were humming rather than singing; it's not that they don't know the words, it's that there ARE no words in that part of the song, and it's the only part they play. It's not nice to butcher a beautiful national anthem like that!

It's interesting that in Italy there has long been controversy over using, as the national anthem, the work of Mameli, a little-known poet, when Italy boasts so many of the great composers, that commemorates a few revolts (such as the Sicilian vespers) when Italian history shines with so many glorious moments.
But then, there has long been controversy here that "God Bless America" should have been our national anthem, rather than the offspring of an old English drinking song. (The salvation of "The Star Spangled Banner" has been that most people can't sing high enough to do God Bless America.)
I know it's unpatriotic to say, but my fave is "La Britica," the stirring national anthem of Portugal! The Portuguese had the same problem as we had with God Bless America, but went ahead with La Britica anyway. Bravo!
(Second choice: "San Min Chu I," the national anthem of the Republic of China, a ringing tribute to freedom!)

I would have to say Fratelli d'Italia was the best anthem at the world cup. It's nice to see the players sing their nation's national anthem. My 5 1/2 year old sang the whole anthem on T.V. after Italy won the world cup (local community channel) and of course living in Canada I love our anthem as well.

I think every National anthem is the best song for their people, because they are prode of hearing their National anthem in the greatest world football callendar and presence of their national team.

Inno de Mamelli (Italian National Anthem). The Azzurri sang it proudly at the World Cup, and many fans like it too. And it also makes a cool ringtone!
