I may give you some bad advice,but....

Start projects late. It works for me since I work best in a time crunch AND my best works have been results of that.
If you live with roommates, DO NOT PISS THEM OFF FOR ANYTHING.GET ALONG WITH THEM(well as ideally as you can). If you get along with them, you can get away with most things dorm related.
Be a teachers' pet(not the before college type). Show teachers you're interested in your class.Seek them out,BUG THE HECK OUT OF THEM,if you have to. It pays, believe me and they will always remeber you and will help you readily and even refer you to the class "nerds" and geeks.
On the sex part,eh, I would say if you can avoid it,do so especially with frats. They are the worst kind.
If you can, make the library your home and get to know the staff like your teachers or even more.
ALWAYS ALWAYS MAKE TIME FOR YOUR FRIENDS,EVEN THOSE AT HOME.They are going through the same experience and they will always be there(except when they are in class).
ALWAYS GO TO BED ON TIME AND GET A FULL NIGHT SLEEP,at least before exam week. You'll find out what I mean come exam time.
Join clubs. Not a lot since you might feel a bit pulled in different directions.
ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT GOD IS THERE. IF YOU FORGET,LET SOMEONE REMIND YOU!!! I made the mistake of forgettiing and for the past three yrs,it was hellish.I'm finding HIM now again and thankfully at the worst time of my school career and he is helping me out. I am not a christian fanatic nor do I go to church, but you don't have to do any of these things to be friends with GOD!!!
I think the one thing most students find out on their own is that dressing up is A BIG DEAL!!!! Spending three hours that could be applied to study to make up and dress up IS NOT FEASIBLE FOR MOST STUDENTS. But that may be because I go to a military college,so.... . Do the basics like shower, clean and neat clothes and you're good to go.

This one's funny: Fall in Love with coffee or at least learn to like it because you WILL NEED IT for all those late night studying........

Yes, I have some advice... please take it with a grain of salt.

- Go to your classes. Sleeping in and making up the lecture time/getting notes from friends is not a good option. You will fall behind.
- Try not to do too many drugs/any at all, they will make you stupid. 'Nuff said.
- If you are having some difficulty understanding a concept, don't hesistate to reach out to a fellow student, the prof., a TA, or an upperclassman you will meet (and you will meet many).
- Don't take any BB or pellet guns on campus... hehe just some personal adivce on that one.
- Drinking and partying is part of what it's all about. Practice safe sex. Practice safe sex. See, i mentioned it twice. Say it one more time in your head and that's three - you won't forget it.
- Join a club if you have time/the energy. It's a good way to get away from the academia while still fraternizing with your schoolmates.

Oh, and I agree with the grim reaper up top - find a place where you can hang out that you can call "your own" with a group of friends or just yourself that is your getaway spot where the peole that work there can get to know you and you can become a "regular"... good one Reap.

Hope this helps!

woohoo....first day is usually about professors handing out syllabus (or is it syllabi?) anywho. try and get your books as soon as you can. don't procrastinate if you have assignments due in a month's time! if you can, try and get it done ASAP, because the longer you wait, the more you will have DUE later on in the semester...BELIEVE ME, this is NOT good. Learn from experience. I know that you probably won't want to start on projects this eary, but BELIEVE ME it is the best thing for you. good luck and God bless

You will not be given knowledge at your University. You have to actively go get it. Have fun with the search.

Congratulations.

I honestly wish I could help, but I am still in my Senior year of High School. All I can say is, walk proudly, take advantage of the school (i.e. courses, clubs, fraternities/sororities, etc.), and enjoy four great years of your life.

find good places to eat, preferably the "hang out" spot for the students. find the local attractions i.e. bars, nightclubs, etc. if you want to talk to that cute guy you saw in class, ask him for directions and then go from there. stay away from the frats.

Treat yourself to a nice meal - things are going to get very busy very soon.

Congratulations.

Remember anyone or everyone graduates, but how well you graduate is the test.

Keep your head up.
