Having work to do can be a relief when you have personal troubles. Force youself to get involved in a task at work, so you give your mind a rest from personal problems. Sometimes, you will find that your subconscious works on it while you are consciously occupied with something else, and a possible solution will come to you.

I understand perfectly what you are going through....I'm a very anxious person by nature BUT God forbid that I should have a major problem to deal with....I'm a gonner....my Doc has prescribed Xanax for me and I'm on a Anti-depressent, the Xanax really does help a lot, I take one pill when the hands start shaking and the heart is beating out of control and the mind won't stop thinking (that's the worst part) ...usually it takes effect 10 minutes later and I totally calm down, heart slows, mind is neutral, I can deal MUCH better but it takes a little getting used to taking because it makes you extremely tired.....but I have somewhat gotten used to it, although not totally....but I tell you, anything is better than dealing with scattered thoughts and crying spells and an uncontrollable mind!
Good Luck to you....you may want to consider a medication if this is a norm for you.

Oh my god, that is a good question. I have never been able to concentrate at work when I have personal issues (something bigger than just a tiff with a friend) on my mind. I've thought about asking for xanax from my doctor, that is all I can think of!

1. Remember that most problems in the big picture are pretty small.
2. Remember that your job keeps many problems from getting worse.
3. Remember that work helps distract you and let you refocus on the problem later on with renewed energy.
4. Work gives you time to think and encounter possible solutions.
5. If all else fails, a steady job will let you drink after work!

Very difficult. I used to keep a journal with me. It helps to put things in writing. Helps to clarify. Also if there is someone at work that you can talk to, that helps. I tell everyone who will listen about my personal issues and have made a number of new friends who have had similar issues. Helps to know that you are not alone.

I know the feeling. It is hard to do. You usually end up not having a very productive day. Just try to find one task that you need to get accomplished and then do it. Message me if you want to talk more.
