Do a wet/dry compression test to determine if the issue is blow-by by the rings or bad valve seals.
Take a dry compression reading with a good compression gage. Then use an oil squirt can to put about a teaspoon full of oil in each cylinder. If the compression is the same then you have a valve seal problem. If the compression is higher with the oil, then you have a ring sealing problem. A valve problem is about half as expensive as an engine overhaul.

First oil smoke is blue/gray not black. Black smoke indicates air/fuel mixture problems. It may be burning thru the exhaust when you are getting on it hard and you just don't notice the smoke.

You need to get it looked at by a mechanic, because if you were burning 2 quarts of oil/week, you wouldn't be able to see behind you there'd be a cloud, probably

After you drive your car, are there beads of oil inside your tailpipe?
