Basically they where toys that had a little gijoe sized figure that could fit into it. And thats pretty much all the info I remember about them, the robot itself was about 6.5 inches tall and the gi joe figure was about 4 inches.

EDIT: it wasnt transformers, vontron, vultas 5 or any of the japanese cartoon toys, these were a set of toys that came out and were never really that popular so they stopped production after one season (I guess is what you'd call it).

robotech,gundum wing was another that almost sounds like a cartoon called starcom. never really made it but the toys were cool as hell lol but also there's this http://www.retrojunk.com/list_tvshows/1980/pop-1/ this has allot of the shows and cartoons from the 80's
