I wasn't sure what it was, but some1 sent me the following info:

... this act was attached to a bill last year that will in two years require EVERYONE to have a 'real id' to do anything related to government activity...like passports. To get the realID, you will have to have four corresponding forms of ID; your birth certificate, driver's license, social security and some mail with your current name and address. It will take effect in two years.

just_ine_credible - I couldn't agree more. I also see it as political correctness overkill. All these docs can be forged, so it's just more hassle for the honest people. Besides it so smells of further government data collection on and instrusion into my privacy. Makes me angry.

I think there's a serious problem when citizens don't question the necessity of such laws/acts not to mention the validity.

Yea, I'm sure you noticed the other question from a Trannie about this same subject and I think it brings up some real hard questions that simply aren't being addressed.

Real ID can be a REAL PROBLEM for transsexual individuals who's birth states will not allow these individuals to change their birth gender. When their birth certificate and their drivers licenses don't match because one says one gender and the other states another gender, these poor souls are made prisoners of their state and country.
It's horrible that legislators and our own government has completely left them out of this and made no attempts to rectify such a situation that will inevitable occur in the future.

I think this is something that needs to be brought to the attention of the ACLU, Lambda Legal Defense as well as the State Department and every state legislature.
This is outright discrimination based on gender identity and I as a fellow human being find it unacceptable.

What I find less acceptable is when "our" community is so self-centered and apathetic that we don't stand up for our fellow transsexual brothers and sisters regarding this issue.
Just as the answerer above me exemplified, "well I got mine...blah, blah, blah."
What that says is: " I got mine, I don't care about anyone else but me, me, me..."

Is this how we treat our fellow citizens? Fellow human beings?

I'm not transsexual, but I do indeed find this to be offencive to me as an American Citizen!

I think that sounds like a good idea as long as we dont have to have a number implanted in our heads or a tatooed bar code I am all for it.
