Can someone explain to me what the point system on this site is for?

that's a good question. The points really don't have any value. They are basically a system and rewards active yahoo answers with...well, more points. I suppose there is a certain amount of pride or a sense of accomplishment for recieving a lot of points, but beside that, they have very little value. However, the more points you get the more answers, questions, votes, etc. you are allowed to make per day, but other than that the points are not reallly redeamable for anything.

It's a good way to keep track of how much time you are wasting. After a year, the top ten percent of users will be taken out and shot because they obviously have no real life and nothing better to do with their time.

the points show how many questions u answer, they only purpose they really serve is so others can see how helpful u are ;), to get the details u can click on how many points u have and it shud pop up and tell u
