i shave my legs and bikini line and am thinking of waxing now? I have heard that wax-cellence wax is very good, anyone used it? Does it hurt?

Also, has anyone tried them machines that rip the hair out?

thanks

The best at home hair removal that I know of is waxing. Yeah, it hurts like anything, but you get used to it after a few times. I'd suggest getting prewaxed strips, it's just a lot easier to deal with than the messy pots of hot or cold wax. The results will usually last about a month, but as you keep waxing, the hair will grow back finer, and it will be longer between treatments. Or, if it's too painful to do yourself, go to a salon and get a professional. They'll probably use hot wax, which is more effective at removing the most hairs, and they can do a really good job at getting hairs you didn't even know about.

I have the machine, and I really wouldn't suggest it, unless you have a huge tolerance for pain. Yeah, it does work, but it's just too painful to do any more than a very small area at a time.

Now, I've gotten laser hair removal on my bikini line, and it's great. It took about a year, because I've got really coarse and dark hair down there, but it's almost completely gone. And any little strays, I can just pluck out. It's a bit painful because you're essentially heating up the bulb of the hair until it "pops". And it really smells like burining hair. But totally effective, and very expensive. My bikini area cost ~$600CDN, so if you want to get your legs done, save up. But I really would recommend it if you have the money and the time.

I do waxing, and it's great! It does hurt, but at some salons you can pay a little extra for what they call "painless waxing." The pain is minimal.

Waxing is good in the way that hair takes longer to grow back than with shaving. Also, in my opinion the finish is a lot smoother.

I would also suggest using an exfoliating scrub before you go to your waxing and continue using it every day. It will prevent any hair bumps (though the plus of waxing is that it doesn't usually cause hair bumps).

You can also go with Nair bikini formula, or Sensitive skin formula for a creme hair removal.

There are also at-home waxing kits, but be prepared for the self-inflicting pain. :-)

Then there is an expensive method of laser hair removal. After a few treatments it is virtually permanent.

Plucking (tweezing), Shaving, Depilatory creams and Waxing are temporary hair removal methods.
Waxing usually lasts for 3 weeks, but it is painful.
Electrolysis and laser hair removal are "permanent" hair removal methods but are expensive and you have to find a trained professional, otherwise your skin could be damaged.
