My doctor had recommended to start with apple, pear, banana, and then peach. In that order. Add veggies after, peas, beans, potato, and sweet potato last. Start with 1 food for 3 days before introducing another so if there is an allergy, you will know immediately which food caused it. After veggies, add the mixed fruits and desserts, again waiting 3 days between new foods.

The rule of thumb is to start the baby on veggies, because if the baby gets fruits first, they won't ever want to eat the vegetables. If you are giving the baby a meal that includes more than one food, always give the less sweet food first!

I started with fruits first. Probably applesauce, then pears and bananas. Once you introduce a few fruits, then you can start with veggies. Like sweet potatoes and peas and squash. Of course, it's up to you how to do things, this is only my opinion and the way I did things.

PS - contrary to what some people are saying, I had no problem with my daughter eating veggies after introducing fruits first. And to this day, it's still not a problem getting her to eat either one.

I started of with vegetables, that's what my doctor suggested. Because babies tend to like the fruit better & won't take to the vegetables as well or at all. But I don't know how true that really is, I personally don't think it matters.

Vegetables, definitely vegetables. And something really bland like green beans or peas. And start them on only one food for a week, and after you're sure that they're not allergic to that, start them on other veggies one at a time, for a week at a time. And start them on rice cereal at about 6 mos, and don't use barley or oatmeal until 8 or 9 months and no wheat until 12 months.

You are supposed to start with vegetables because once they tatste the sugar in the fruit you will have a hard time introducing veggies!

Always start with veggies first. Don't start with the fruits because the child will get the taste of sweet and will not eat the veggies.

I was told veggies first so that the baby doesn't get a sweet tooth. My daughter hated them so I did fruits and then just mixed the veggies in so that she still got the benefits from them.

After about six months, I started with very ripe smashed avocado or very ripe smashed banana. I avoided any canned baby food-- I either smashed or pureed fresh home-cooked veggies or fruit. If you want to compare how "off" the canned stuff tastes-- get a jar of Gerber banana- 1st jar version, and smash a fresh ripe banana then TASTE it for yourself! Its an amazing difference.
Have fun!!
