Do each of you expect total honesty of each other or has it become acceptable to lie/ manipulate the truth about some issues?

Its not a matter of lieing or manipulating. Telling the truth is good; but you have to consider how you tell the truth and when you tell the truth. If you tell the truth after you have worked through the issue then you are just dropping the bomb on your spouse. That's not cool. Somethings may be better left unsaid.

I expect total honesty from him. We've built our relationship on trust. And I have no need to lie about anything. This is both our 2nd marriages.

Honesty is the best policy. Don't do anything you would feel the need to lie about and you won't need to lie about anything. That way, if you and your partner know and understand one another, no matter what you do, you can be honest about it. Even if (s)he gets mad at first, (s)he'll get over it (like "how did the car get that new scratch on it?")

honesty is the best policy. don't do anything you would feel the need to lie about if u share ur life with ur spouse everything will be ok.

My husband is always honest with me, he'll even tell me when I don't look good in something and it makes me feel better to know the truth than to walk around questioning if he's lying to me all the time.

sometimes? Hell no, at least 99% of the time....there are some things that can be lied about....such as surprises
