today in a poll Pink Floyd's ''comfortably numb'' was voted as the number one guitar solo and I was wondering what your favourite guitar solo would be..

by the way mine is 'Blood Brothers' by iron maiden - the guitar builds and builds into a slow powerful solo that gives me chills every single time I hear it..

I can't believe no one has mentioned Joe Walshe's solo from Hotel California by the Eagles, the guitar is singing from the harmonics. Brilliant and so original

I would say jimi hendrix cover of 'All Along The Watch Tower' love the solo.

i would like to say live forever by oasis, that solo makes me feel good after i play it on my guitar.

If you can play the solo and feel you done a great job playing it, the its a great solo.

Eddie Van Halen's in "Everybody Wants Some!" (long time ago when David Lee was their frontman).

I guess technically it is not a solo, since Alex Van Halen's wonderful drums provide a driving back-beat. But it is raw, edgy & heavy - and great!

When I read the first line of your question only one song came to mind.
Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd!!!

You mean there were other answers besides that one? Amazing.

David Gilmore on Berlin's PINK VELVET. This solo is an advanced version of his COMFORTABLY NUMB work. The bass is good also. Too bad the drums suck.

Hard to pick one, or even a couple. Probably "Let it Rain" or "Crossroads" by Eric Clapton. I would also have to say a few things by Carlos Santana (Samba Pa Ti) and Stevie Ray Vaughan would have to rank right up there. Oh...and don't forget "Freebird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Stairway To Heaven - Zeppelin

Freebird - Skynyrd

I am thinking of Robby Krieger's intro on Spanish Caravan by The Doors. Also, I think Eruption by Van Halen is one of the hardest to do. I have been working on that one for almost 4 years.
