The first thing i'm gonna tell ya: RELAX!!!! It's ok to be shy. I know from personal experience. The first thing i had to learn was to just be myself. i'm gonna assume that you're probably in high school. Everyone just wants to fit in, be considered "cool" and have a lot of friends. Nothing wrong with that. Just do what YOU consider cool, and let others approach you. Most important thing: don't be afraid to say "hi" to someone. I guarantee they won't bite you.

I was the exact same way when I was younger. I'm like that to a degree now, but it's mainly because I've learned that sometimes you just have to hold your tongue on some things. But, what helped me was the fact that I finally realized that I have a voice that deserves to be heard. And you should realize the same. Don't feel stupid or inferior and avoid belching out the right answer. Go ahead, take that first step. It will give you a sense of liberation and you will only grow from there. As far as your mom is concerned, you must realize, also, that she is indeed your mom. She has seen the most intimate of intimate parts of you, so don't feel ashamed, shy or embarrassed to let loose and let your true talents and gifts shine around her. Take it one step at a time, and I'm sure you'll be just that much more comfortable in your own skin while around others in no time.

I used to be this exact same way. I would turn red everytime someone looked at me. As I got older, I've gotten a LOT better! You need to focus on you. The best thing to do is to get into something that you can really put yourself into and become really good at (for me it was karate....9 years!). It makes you proud...makes you more confident. Another thing that helped me is I ask myself "What is the very worst thing that could happen to me if I do this thing"...if It's not life threatening or unhealthy.....I do it. The more you do this....the easier it gets...trust me.....now I sing karioke in front of many people I know......

If you are 18 years or older, join the Marykay cosmetics company. The ladies meet for training and to discuss special events once a week. there you will find others like you who learned, with the support of their sisters how to overcome it. And become the best and confident person you could possibly be

the wonderful thing about getting to my age (57) is you realize people aren't really interested in what you are doing , they are only interested in themselves. so i do as i please and i f i want to dance i dance and don't care who sees.

i was shy and wouldn't dance or speak in school...they said i was stupid. but the answers were so obvious i couldn't understand why nobody else said them and thought i must be wrong.
at 35 i got fed up with being treated as a dumb blond and did a MENSA IQ test i got 148 with out telling them i was dyslexic.........so i know i am not dumb, and i just smile when people treat me as if i am.
once i realized people didn't care about other people i would just walk up to strangers at parties and say hello who are you i am Fiona s......., once you have done it a few times it gets easy,
give it a go and good luck.

what u need to do is start not to be shy with your mom..coz that will be the first step..try to overcome it by feeling good, beautiful, confident in every woks of life..u just need to beieve inyourself more so u will not be shy again to other people..step by step..little by little..you will see..

Girl, first of all you need to learn how to punctuate your sentences. I'm getting a migraine just trying to figure out what you're talking about!! Anyway, i'm shy too around strangers and I think for me its just a 'defence mechanism'...its takes me a while to trust people. Don't give it too much thought..its just your personality...we can't be all outgoing!!

You are not alone many, many young women are the same way, and it is not a bad way to be. It keeps you modest and that is a very good thing for a young lady to be.

I think what we've called "shy" for years now has a name, it's social anxiety disorder. Consider having your mom take you to a counselor who has knowledge about this.
You are missing out on so much!

I am shy too. But what helps me is to live in the moment. think: What if you died tomorrow? How many things would you regret not doing today?
