Your skin is dry. Foundation just makes it show. Exfoliate and use moisturizer after. That should get rid of the dead cells on your face.

First of all you should exfoliate no more than 1-2 times a week GENTLY!! Over-exfoliating can cause flaky skin. Use a gentle skin cleanser such as Cetaphil and moisturize after and do this again prior to bedtime. Try to stay away from heavy creamy type makeup as these too will make your skin look cakey and cause breakouts. There is a mineral makeup called Bare Escentuals. You can go to the website Barescentuals.com and see if they have a store near you. If not, you can also purchase this product at Ulta or Sephora. Prior to makeup application, moisturize and let it saturate, then apply your makeup. Remember to be very gentle with your skin it's gonna be around for a long time. Good Luck!!

Two words- BARE ESCENTUALS :)
It is AMAZING - it looks like your skin has no makeup. You won't break out with it on - you can even sleep with it on (not that I recommend it) Just try it - also there should be a how-to dvd in the kit. I've seen it at Ulta - those kits usually sell out. It should come with Warmth (which isn't a bronzer - but it does give you that outdoorsy look) So far the stuff is amazing, I've converted almost all the ladies that I work with to use Bare Minerals. If you don't like it - check with Ulta on their money-back policy. I highly think that you will not need to return it. It has been the best investment that I've made on this makeup - and it DOES NOT Expire! I've been using it for 2 years and I wish I had started when I was your age - because who knows what sort of effect that the chemicals in foundations and pressed cosmetics has had on my skin.

As for the color that you choose - make sure you have an Ulta personnel help you out. The colors are pretty forgiving - so if you tan easily in the summer, the color you choose will still work - just make sure to blend on your neck. Good luck and I know you will turn into a believer!

If your skin looks dry it most likely is dry, even if you put moisturizer on. I used to have the same problem. Here is my daily routine. When I wake up I cleanse my face, exfoliate, moisturize, apply foundation, then bronzing powder all over even on my neck, then blush and the rest of my make-up. The bronzing powder gives you a natural glow look which minimizes the dry look and if you put your foundation on 10 min. after your lotion it will look more glossy.

you need a really good moisterizer, and a "peel" mask to slough off that dead skin. Look for moisterizers that say "heavy moisterizers". Also, make sure you are using an astringent or toner in the places where the skin builds up (like for me its on the sides of my nose the worst) BEFORE you moisterize. It sounds like you might be using too many drying products on your face like Stridex or something. My advice is to skip the foundation until you get your skin under control. But if that is not possible, try Matte mousse foundation. I think its by maybelline. It has a really light texture

i have super dry skin so this is what i do...

before i put make up on...i use oil of olay hydration beaty fluid. i've been doing this for YEARS! i let it sink in for like two minutes, then i apply foundation. here's the thing....if you're dry skin, that means you don't have acne problems. sooooo...you don't need full coverage. you just need to apply foundation just around your eye area, it's to keep the eye make up from wearing off. then apply loose powder all over your face...i suggest the powders with minerals in it. for some reason, it doesn't show flaky skin. i try not to put foundation on my cheeks or nose and forhead because that's where the flakey skin will show the most.

you may already have dry skin. mine is the same way. I get oily around the nose and chin, but dry on the forehead and cheeks. Check your moistureizers and face wash and be sure to always buy according to your skin. Try a fash wash that has the microbeads or lil scrubbies in them. Also try using a foundation thats oil free, but has moisturizers in it. If you need some more help email me and i will be happy to help

Your foundation doesn't have enough oils in it. I don't like wearing a greasy foundation but I have to or I have the same problem as you do. Like you, I keep my face moisturized but the foundation makes me look flaky, especially around the nose area. I've been using L'Oreal Visible Lift and when I can't find my color in that, I get L'Oreal Infallible. I've had good luck with both.

that means that you are having an allergic reaction to that kind of foundation. look for hypoallergenic brands. i like estee lauder and i hear prescriptives is also good.

your problems may stem from the use of acne face washes. try something gentler like Purpose (Johnson&Johnson, found @ Target for about $5)

also, you may be over-exfoliating. cut down on it and see if there is a difference.

also, you may be peeling due to sun exposure. estee lauder offers foundations with SPF. but with skin so sensitive, you may opt for Neutrogena's SPF 15 lotion in the Sensitive formula.

and you're right- don't use that concealer stick- throw it away!

You might want to change the foundation maker. I have found that certain foundations make my skin look like crap. Also, you may want to try a foundation prep lotion, it just might help the problem without having to change make up companies. good luck
