Usually they move to a toddler bed or twin bed at around 2 years old. If they are too little, they might roll off the bed, and though you can put a railing up for that, babies begin pulling up at about 6 months, and could topple over the railing. Keep in mind that if you get a toddler bed, the crib mattress and bedding will fit it. But don't discount the value of a crib: anything that keeps them safe and away from wandering in the middle of the night is a good thing

I would suggest to buy the cribs that converts to a toddler bed than a full size bed. They are really not as much money as the normal crib they are in the crib for around 1 1/2 to 2 years, they bassinet, I would suggest you buy the playpen with the bassinet with it. I wouldn't buy a separate bassinet, mine only slept in it for six weeks. Congratulations!!!

You need a crib. The child will be in it for 2 years. Then she will start climbing out of it. That will be the time to get a toddler bed.

my daughter went from a crib to a toddler bed around 13 months. it worked fine....im pregnant again, and plan on doing the same thing. im actually considering NOT buying a crib this time around, just a bassinet and a playpen combo....but things might change. i feel that it is a waste of money for something so temporary. good luck

Mine slept in a bassinet or moses basket aqs they are known in England, and then at four months went into a cot, which was bought as a cot which would turn into a bed for a toddler by just taking off the sides and end pieces. He was in there till aged 2. As long as they have enough room they are fine. You can always buy second hand and thoroughly wash/clean them to save money.

I've heard different things, depends on the individual situation. I always thought you switch them over when they start climbing out of the crib. My daughter is still in her crib, she just turned 2 years. It still works for us right now.

Get a crib that turns into a bed that way you get two for the price one one. That's what we have and we love it!

That depends on how fast your child wants to change beds. Some crawl and climb faster. Probably 12 to 18 months.
