i would not reccommend a tattoo unless it is something that has personal significance. that way, you will never regret your decision.

the spider tribal emblem i am going to get is very personal to me because it has meaning.

which brings me to the most important part about getting a tattoo- know who you are going to before you decide to get it. ask other people who have gotten tattoos who they would recommend. sit down with the tattoo artist and give them a drawing or picture to go by. if you see a tattoo you like on the internet, buy the copyright for it and print out the stencil and the finished tattoo. not only will this help the tattoo artist, they will probably even give you a discount on your tattoo b/c they didn't have to go to the trouble of making their own outline of the tattoo. it also ensures that the tattoo you want is a tried and true design.

also, consider getting a tattoo on an area that you can choose to cover up with your clothing if you need to. (formal and professional enviroments/ so mom and dad will never know...)

also, don't go cheap on the tattoo. it's going to be there forever, so invest wisely in your body art.

I would have it somewhere concealable. I only just told my fiance that after the wedding I will be getting tats. I have been waiting for after my wedding so that I can look like an innocent traditional bride in the photos. Nothing huge though. Maybe my first childs name or something sentimental. I love them on the back of a neck so you can only see it when your hair is up... great question! I can't wait to read the other responses... I just remembered, a guy I knew had the most amazing tats. On one fore arm it said "Live with demons" on the other it said "Dream of angels" If you knew the guy it was so true it brought a tear to my eye when he had it done...

i would like to get a tattoo on my palm but henna tattoo. other tatooes injure the skin and so i am completely against it. In the ancient cultures it was used to mark women as the prpperty of a specific tribe or group. So i am now away from such belief. i refuse to get a permanent stamp on me...
