A thousand dollar car ain't gonna roll
till you go at least another thousand in the hole.
You sink your money in it and there you are,
the owner of a two thousand dollar thousand dollar car.

If a thousand dollar car was to be worth a damn,
then why would anybody ever spend ten grand?

Take the Laptop & make them sping for insurance too in case it gets lost or stolen.

If you can get by on a skateboard, you can take it onto a bus or rail if you're tired or the weather sucks or you have to go really long distances. A skateboard is very cheap to replace, and if you get hit by a negligent car driver, you can sue his a** - uh his butt,... and then buy yourself a nice set of wheels. Just watchout for other skateboarders - like yourself, LOL!

For your first couple years of College, you won't really need a car anyway, you gotta concentrate on getting your Core courses done and out of the way, before you can consider having a little fun, save the really hard stuff for later. When you will need a car to get away to study or let off a little pressure - with the right company,........
Play the scratchers for fun (if you got lotto in the area where you're going to school) it won't hurt to burn a few bucks once in a while, it costs the same as a six pack of beer. Who knows, you might have a moderate win for a little extra to have fun with or get lucky and score enough to cover the rest of college and buy a brand new Hot set of wheels (damn the maintenece and up-keep) to cruise in and pick up chicks.

Good luck,...

why the laptop? well some instructors accept having work submitted via Email, so if you miss a class or you're bustin a nut to make a report/paper, you can send it by email to your teacher and print a copy if you have too later. A car is more of a liability till it gets towed or stolen. A moped or older model motorcycle is more flexible anyway (you won't be able to give a freeloader roommate a free ride, if you gotta give a pretty girl a lift).

A $1000 labtop will probably work. A $1000 car probably won't.

a car.. this way you can drive to the computer lab to use the schools computers when you need to... you can drive to classes, the store, to a job, and spending a 1000 on a laptop is a little much seeing how you can get a good one for about 700

Better know a lot about fixing cars, because a 1000 car is apt to need work.

The thousand dollar laptop would be new and cause you little to operate and maintain. The thousand dollar car, on the other hand, will cost you gasoline, oil, insurance, license fees, and it certain to have maintenance and breakdowns since a thousand dollar car would be one level before a junk yard resident.

a $1000 will get you a decent laptop but a crappy car. Take the laptop

laptop. the $1000 car will cost you more than that in gas, insurance and repairs. the laptop should last you through your college years.

Get the laptop. You can always use public trans or at least bum a ride from a friend to class. Besides if you keep bugging your parents for a ride to class they may give in to both....Have fun at school.
