All depends how you die.........
Passing away in your sleep isn't hostile, but getting beat to death or burned alive classifies as hostile in my book.

the state of dying is more hostile than death itself in a way that one is at the verge of dying but a slow death forexample one is involved in a dreadful car accident and is admitted to hospital where he has to remain under medication, monitored by life sustaining machines till the last minute of his life or till he can support his life once again.

To quote the movie Tuck Everlasting "do not fear death fear rather the unlived life" I'd say something like jail that reduses someone's ability to live is more hostile.

I can't imagine that death is in itself hostile. *Causing* one's death, yes. But not death merely on its own.

Not being prepared when you die. Hell is eternal, never ending torture. If you're prepared, the death of your mortal body will send you into heaven to be with the Lord eternally. Where are you going? Are you prepared?
