I have never seen anything like these things in my life and it really makes me worry that he could be mentally unstable, he also claims to have been struck by lightning and that he sometimes has extra sensory perception.

He may have a mental disorder. My younger brother started that when he was 19 and was diagnosed with Schizophrenia.

I don't know about aliens but it is perfectly normal to see ghosts!!!
I have seen many ghosts some family members who have passed away and now my dad has moved into his new house i see the ghosts of people who used to live there!
Don't worry about it its not weird he just has a higher psychic level than you do!
He may not have lied about the lightening strike either as my friend has been hit twice by it when she was little!!

Tell him to go back to taking the medication. Not to be funny if this guy is not just giving you a line he really needs to get a proper diagnosis for his condition as it sounds as if it could be serious.
