My Godson is in Iraq. The things he has asked for the most are deoderant, cotton socks and snacks that do not spoil. Another thing he lives to receive is lots of pictures. If you know what kind of music he likes either a portable cd player or ipod with songs he will like downloaded on it... (Don't forget the batteries)

Hope that helps some!

A simple "gift from HOME" like a subscription to a magazine (if he's interested in sports, nature, or one that's multi-interest like Reader's Digest). If the publisher won't send issues to Iraq, have them sent to you and you can forward them to him.

And, most importantly, newsy letters - LOTS of them like every other day.Throw in some pics occasionally for an extra treat.

If he is still over there and as weird as this may sound toiletry items. Toothpaste, tooth brush, baby wipes things of that nature. If he is your boyfriend maybe a nice picture of you attached to a comforting card.

When you write him a letter tell him how proud you are and greatful you are (if you are), that he is in harms way for us.

When I was in the Navy (21 years) being overseas it was great to get care packages (we called them). Of course it came from our family. But it was nice to get munchies we could not get where we were. find something safe to send.

I liked music also. Some places i was I could not get good music. Burn a cd for him. A variety of the latest songs.

I don't know what price range we are talking about, but they say that game systems are very popular, if you know if he has 1 or not already that is. If that cost to much and you know he has access to a system, then maybe a new game for it,{new release} I'm sure he would enjoy it very much.

A pamper day when he gets back, sauna, massage, nice meal.
etc
And for now; a rabbits foot, a four leaf clover, a horseshoe, and any other lucky charm you can think of!!

As someone who knows...
Things he can use: Beef jerkey, shaving kit items (his favorite toothbrush/paste, razor blades, soap, deodorant, ect) batteries, military style sunglasses (think oakley). You can just ask him what he needs, too.
Things he would love: loaded MP3 player with his music and a recorded message from you, camera with lots of film or a digital camera, mini portable TV.

Hope it helps! -- SSGT, USMC-R
