My wife must have this done to be able to carry a child past 26 weeks. It will be done around 16 to 18 weeks. It doesn't hurt but there are huge risk with it. They told us there was a 45% chance we could lose each child but that compaired to 100% if we didn't do it was not such a hard choice to make. Know also that having to do this does not mean you will carry to term. My wife still after having one, delivers between 30 and 32 weeks. The child has a greater chance of being happy and healthy when born at this stage though. Here is a link to more info on it. Hope all works out for you.
