She still has a small piece of umbilical cord stump, so I know it's not supposed to get wet, but she kinda smells bad (from spitting up on herself & whatnot). So, I need some detailed instructions or a good link about how to give a sponge bath because I'm a little clueless. Thanks!

easy, in a small sink or tiny pan use very mild soap and a rag. Have the warm water so it is only up about an inch deep (so you don't get the stump too wet. Use very mild soap or just the warm water will be good enough to clean it up. Babys love it so after a few baths you will notice the baby kicking away in there haveing a blast.

Put a piece of gauze or a small wash cloth over her stomach when you bathe her. Wring the wash cloth out really well before you wipe her off, and pay special attention to her face/neck and diaper area. When you've gotten most of her washed, remove the wash cloth that's covering her umbilical cord stump and wash very gently around that.

Get a basin (or mixing bowl or anything that's clean and will hold water) fill it with nice, warm water, and put a few drops of baby bath in it. (Not much because you don't want her to get sticky from too much soap. Lay a baby towel out on your bed or sofa, undress her and put her on the towel. Wring out the cloth and wash her all over (following the instructions above). Be sure also to pay special attention to behind her ears, too. Newborns don't really get dirty per se, but like you said...from spitting up, they can get sort of stinky. :)

Also, whatever parts you aren't washing, keep them covered with a towel as newborns tend to get chilled easily.

All you have to do is just take a soft cloth and baby soap...get it wet and clean everywhere except for around the cord be careful there and you will be fine, you don't need a website for that just some common sense!!

The thing that took me awhile to figure out is to do one section of the baby at a time and keep the rest of her covered in a towel. Do "clean" parts first- face, arms legs, then do the diaper area. Do her head last as baby's lose the most heat from their heads. Newborns hate to be cold!!

i don't know of a web link on how to give a spongebath, but if you get her cord wet in the process of cleaning her, use rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip to wipe off the cord. it will dry up any moisture left from the water.
have you thought about asking your mom or an aunt for help?

It's absolutely fine to get it wet, as long as you clean it afterwards. Don't use sponges though for newborns as they're full of germs.

the nurse instructed us while the twine falls off its risk-free to bathe them in a bathtub. as long as theres no twine there anymore and its long previous it would be ok. i might basically positioned some stuff on it to make it no longer as uncooked and dry.

be careful, because babies can have this strange reaction to water to where they seem like (are) they're holding their breath. it can be really scary!

Good Luck!
