Unfortunately I believe that it is in part the school systems fault. Why would they allow any student to graduate high school, or proceed to the next grade, if they are nowhere near proficiency level in either spelling, reading, or writing???
Secondly I fault the parents for not strictly enforcing a stronger learning ethic, or simply the desire for knowledge, into their offspring.

I think it is a question of values, standards and attitude.
Values: Some people don't value spelling and grammar. They think it is silly for anyone to get worked up over it. They figure, if you understood my point, what difference does it make? Of course, if you didn't understand, they accuse you of being dense.
Standards: Let's face it, nobody's going to flunk anything because of poor spelling, or even bad writing. If they turn something in, they'll get a C- at the very least. That grade is quite acceptable to people with low standards. Teachers, who are often bad spellers themselves, don't want to rock the boat and give the grade that a paper deserves because it's only asking for more trouble for them.
Attitude: Poor spellers attend the same classes as excellent spellers. However, they do not pay as much attention to the teacher. They don't scrutinize the words they're reading and skim over unrecognized words instead of looking them up and learning their etymology. This partly has to do with values -- they just don't value learning as much -- and partly with just a lack of an inquisitive outlook on life in general.
Not to mention laziness.

It's actually a global issue, and I am not quite sure what is the explanation of this dilemma. I can, however, attest that I believe many spelling mistakes made in the computer genre are due to poor typing skills coupled with impatience and lack of attention.

The public school system is so concerned about being politically correct and "not leaving a child behind" that they just pass kids thru to each grade disregarding whether they've learned anything.

No no no, it has nothing to do with immigrants because the valley-girls are the worst! It's everything to do with your country's attitude towards society's wellfare, i.e. the idea that everyone should have an equal shot. The rich kids get put into rich schools and the poor one's don't.

the U. S.. Democratic status. changed into the source of the talk at Valley Forge. The founding fathers were democratic. the human beings who wanted a republic pretty a lot starved the completed American military out to instruct their aspect. Then it changed into set up as a democracy for the human beings and Thomas Jefferson ended up speaking plenty about it. Then those losers referred to as the puratins got here in, representing the republic (vast agencies). They fought for pretty a lot one hundred years to opposite the structure and each and each of the equivalent rights stuff. Now you word it, they nonetheless attempt to make it a nazi or king james state. yet maximum of what they have performed is public. because of their joker mentality, now many huge monetary marketplace depending entities have more beneficial skill then human beings and actual contradict what united statesa. stands for. united statesa. is meant to be a democracy, yet because of deprave idiots who took unrestrained moves. some such issues because the federal authorities. even although they're a company. As a ruling body. that's only a mish mash of fantastic human beings and dirty those who help organisation over human beings.

Because of Standardized Testing!!!! If the schools taught the children an education instead of ONLY teaching what they need to know to pass the standardized tests, we would have a newer generation of more intelligent, articulate, educated individuals. As it stands, the only INDIVIDUALS are the ones who's parents insist that their children learn more than just what the schools are teaching them. Texas is the WORST!!!! If I could take my kids elsewhere, I would. But thanks to an idiot ex, we are required to stay in the state, or they have to go back to live with him even though his wife kicked my children out of her house. GO FIGURE

Because they are allowed to get away with it by their parents and teachers. Even schools don't want to"force" kids to learn. "They will learn when they are ready" is the story I have actually been told by teachers. In my day, they would beat the crap out of you until you learned!!

The public school system is much more interested in teaching feminist hogwash, and gay sensitivity, and atheism to bother with literacy.
