that just means his dad actually has been there/ done that and knows enough to know that he doesn't want his son to make the same mistakes he did. undoubtedly, he regrets the tattoo. maybe the son should ask his dad to tell him about his personal experiences and why his dad doesn't want him ending up like him.

Tattoo's are something some do occasionally at the spur of the moment (myself included unfortunately). And just because a pot leaf is tattooed on someone does not always mean they are pot smokers (have 2 friends with pot leaves on them and they never tried it before, they just liked the leaf at the time), and this could be because he is an "ex" drug taker and that is why he was telling his son not to take drugs.

There is a beauty and allot of meaning that goes into the tattoo,I am a 46 year old woman with eleven tattoo's all of them very beautiful and meaningful, and allot of money tied up into the art.My Son 28 is completely sleeved both side back and front and one on his calf. I myself am an artist and love what I do, it's so personal to my client's and stands for something that keeps them close to others. But my advise is to look at as many pieces of flash, book's or draw one your self and then take three months to think about it

It depends on the person. I have tats but they were thought out, planned, not something I can regret. Some people love the art involved and for them it's not planned but it's still beautiful. For a lot people who have them and it's a 'mistake' for them, it was not a design. It was probably an emblem, a popular figure. Those are temporary fads, Most of us regret what we looked like for prom in high school, or what get up our parents had us in for picture day in grade school. Same with tats. The guy might have a leaf on his neck but it could be that he might be using it to help dissuade his child from starting, kinda of like, "look what it can do to people, it happened to me...."

I think most people are young and drunk when they get them.... or in a different mind frame. Most people don't think, hey that's going to be really stupid in 10 years..... or what if I had kids... Hell, no one would get those navel tattoos if they thought pregnancy out...
I will admit- when drunk on vacation at bike week in FL, I was 23 and it seemed like a good idea to have a hot pink playboy bunny tattoo to me..... now I am 29 and like "what the hell was wrong with me". I feel like a cheap Spencer Knick Knack... and one day will have to explain why Mommy has a hot pink rabbit on her thigh......

You'd be surprised. I work at a tattoo shop and I've seen people get tattoos without thinking about them all the time.

Yeah my sister is trying to get her preteen daughter to show more respect for authority, yet she has a tattoo on her body of Mickey Mouse giving the finger.
I have tats, but I thought them out in advance. They are very tame.

they do think about it, but .... I don't know. Some regret it. I know a guy who got a cherry on his neck. He got it "so girls could nibble on it". I guess its a good concept for him but its extremely strange seeing a heterosexual guy walking around with a cherry on his neck.
