Yahoo Answers.

First it was Yahoo Games that nearly destroyed my life. I strengthened my resolve to resist playing Chess, Canasta, and Spades until the wee hours of the morning.

Then after years of fighting to win the power struggle with my own addiction, Yahoo concocted the new crack for online junkies -- Yahoo Answers.

I'm driven by a primal need for acceptance. A deep yet sick need for a fix that only comes from the high that follows, "Best Answer -- Chosen by Asker."

I do it alone when no one can see me. I slip away after the kids go to bed each night and search the list of questions for my best chance at "Best Answer -- Chosen by Asker". A hit that I crave. First, it encroached on my personal life and now like an insidious infection cripples me at work for hours at a time.

When not getting high, I talk to others about questions and their many answers. I talk about why one answer was better than another. I justify my own answers. I seek better and more concise ways to address the ever present questions about the Bible, which college, and why the sky is blue.

Like a crack dealer on the playground I'm destroying our youth. When young learning minds seek help with homework, I readily do it for them. I stopped caring about whether they learn how to do it. Now, I've sunk to only care about my own high at the expense of their academic future.

If I don't kick this habit soon, I'm concerned that I will start requiring that my wife ask me to help with the dishes by posting the question via Yahoo Answers. When the kids ask me for a bedtime story, I'll require that they post the question. You'll know I'm in deep when you see my psycho therapist posting, "So, how do you feel now?"

Like Achilles, I have proven myself to be stong. I fought many other addictive online products. I was even strong enough to victoriously overcome Yahoo Games. But, Yahoo Answers may afterall prove to be my Achilles Heel.

It is the weakest part of you. In the myth, Achilles' mom held him as a baby by his foot and dipped him into a certain river for strength but she forgot to switch feet and get both wet. So his one dry foot or ankle became his weak spot even though he was a brave and strong man.My achilles heel is that I never could go for things that I really wanted. I never thought I was smart or good enough to do something well enough to be accepted. Now I know that is so wrong! My A.H. stems from sexual abuse. Most ppls will come from something in the past unless it is a physical one.Best wishes!

My affection for chocolate. I'm in good shape and take good care of myself, but I'm a sucker for chocolate in all forms.
