i completely suck right now. im a guy, and i get increasingly nervous when im in the car. right now im driving a manual, but i cant handle the clutch properly and its causing me problems. i've had 7 lessons already and their still has been no difference from day 1. my driver suggests switch to automatic, but i dont want to as i dont want to giv up and im a guy who likes to work on things continously to get it right and not giv up on it. how many of you guys really struggled with the manual, and how bad were you.

I wasn't to bad but i do think that it makes a difference what car you drive some of them have very fierce clutches and modern cars are quieter than they used to be which also makes it harder so don't blame yourself keep trying and you will get the hang of it.When i first started i got my dad to take me to a hill and i just sat there practising a hill start once you mastered that you find driving a whole lot easier.Good luck

be smart: learn to drive on an auto. Once you have the mechanics of driving something simple down (just know the laws and be careful. thats all you have to do. pay attention to everything around you, and dont do stuff you would feel is dangerous), then go onto a manual.

and if you mean youre just having problems with a stick shift, then go read up some on how manuals work. once you know the mechanics behind the clutch and tranny it makes it much easier to know what youre doing. Just mindlessly trial and erroring is pointless.
