If you're intentionally dropping a stitch and you want to stop it from dropping at a certain row, start that column of stitches with a yo.

For example, at the row where you want the stitch to stop dropping, do a yo. On the next row, knit (or purl) into that yo. Keep knitting and then when you're ready, drop the stitch that is at the top of the column of stitches that contains the yo. The stitch should stop dropping when it reaches the yo.

Go find a crochet hook -- grab the dropped stitch with the hook. Lift it above the next row and grab that row and pull it through the dropped stitch. Lift that stich up and keep doing this up until you catch up to where you are currently knitting. Lift the dropped stitch onto your needle and you are all caught up!

If you are not currently knitting it, do the exact same thing, but do this until you get to a logical point like a seam, then pull the stitch to the inside of the material and put a few thread stitches into it to hold it into place to keep it from unraveling again.

Hope this helps!!
