I thought of doing the Holly Wells & Jessica champam murder into a story but people said that would be quite controversial.

How about taking a problem from the problem page of a news paper? Would translate nicely into a diary entry, or maybe into a short story, if you add in the other sides of the story too. Sounds like an interesting project. Enjoy, and good luck.

Visit the site www.crimexposouthafrica.org which has been set up by local South Africans to expose the genocide that is being committed in their Country. Their Government is in denial and manipulating the Press to tell only "sunshine stories." Their some harrowing stories and gruesome pictures of farm murders etc so be careful for the pics. There are a number of other sites on the same subject www.southafricaiscrap.blog.com and all are aimed at exposing the crime to save tourist lives.

Why don't you use one of the Biblical stories like the parting of the Red sea or Jonah and the big fish or something like that. I think one of these would amke a superb Hollywood blockbuster now that the special effects are so much more advanced..
what d ya think

You cannot write this type of story without someone being offended. The little girl who was held captive for eight years is heart-wrending but people are just fascinated - is this the type of thing you mean? Good luck, trust your own judgement and you won't go wrong. xx
